Your participation in this election is important!
After much controversy and many delays - we swept the election!
The vote count according to a post by HOA President Greg M. was as follows:
Sandy Spalding (246) Tiffany Vicars (240) Daniel English (252) Jeremiah Brightup (221)
Greg M. (96) Joe S. (89) Sharon D. (88) Bob T. (87)
We would like to thank all the residents and volunteers who helped make this happen.
Special thanks to all those on the election committee who worked hard to
ensure a fair and transparent election process.
NOTICE: Starting Feb 20th 2025, the newly elected board members can be contacted
through the official HOA website (Glenmary-hoa.com). This website will no longer be
monitored by Daniel, Sandy, Tiffany, or Jeremiah after that date. Thank You!
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY - We will never agree to a large expenditure without express input and feedback from the residents. We will work to keep your dues low and push back against any special assessments. The previous board spent nearly $200,000 of HOA funds without imput from the community. Whether you were for or against the land purchase, we hope you'll agree this should have been presented to the residents. We are not in favor of ANY purchase which could lead to a special assessment.
SAFETY - We will look for ways to obtain approval and funding of additional speed bumps on Long Home Rd and Glenmary Farm Dr. Due to the new developments around us, Glenmary has become a popular cut-through. Speed bumps work and the protection of our residents and their children is paramount. The previous board failed to win their lawsuit to stop the use of Glenmary roads connecting to the Dobson Lane Ball Homes Development.
COMMUNICATION - We will push for additional HOA meetings throughout the year. We'll propose that meetings be recorded or streamed for those that cannot attend. All questions from residents will be answered in a respectful and informative way.
TRANSPARENCY - We will push for information concerning HOA finances, upcoming events, meeting notes, and other relevant information be readily available on our website. The previous board has failed to post motions made for a period of nearly two years. This is completely unacceptable and residents deserve better.
PRESERVATION - We will work hard to uphold our bylaws and deed restrictions. We are committed to upholding our property values. The previous board has tried to frighten residents, inferring challengers will somehow work to undue our deed restrictions. This is patently untrue. The board knows full and well no changes can be made to our restrictions without 75% approval of the affected residents.
CIVILITY - We will always treat everyone with respect and dignity and that includes those we may not see eye to eye with. We pledge to never use HOA funds or resources to disparage future candidates wishing to serve their community. The previous board has used HOA resources and channels of communication to attack our group of candidates. The previous board has never taken the time to sit down and talk with any of us concerning the election. Yet they've used their superior resources to suggest a vote for us could adversely affect your property values and quality of life.
SPECIAL EVENTS - The neighborhood Yard Sale will be organized by the HOA. Volunteers will be welcome and encouraged to assist. We will also look into planning future special events such as decorating contests and an annual neighborhood festival.
COMMUNITY - We will work toward strengthening our relationships with other community partners such as our Metro Council Representative, neighboring Home Owners Associations, and other local entities that affect our neighborhood. We will work toward creating new volunteer opportunities, such as a Welcome Committee for new residents, and a Special Events Committee.
There are four board seats subject to this election. The board is controlled by a simple majority. We can not bring the change this community so desperately needs without winning all 4 board seats.
The board put out a solicitation for additional candidates after they cancelled the previous election. We believe this to be a violation of the bylaws which state "candidate bios should be submitted prior to September 1st."
Please pay close attention to your ballot and only vote for 4 positions. Vote for Daniel English, Tiffany Vicars, Sandy Spalding, and Jeremiah Brightup.
In previous elections the board has implemented a process where the ballots are counted anonymously. A fair and transparent election should be considered a basic civil right.
In a desperate last minute attempt to influence voters, two of the board members have changed their “biographies” in the official election packets to directly attack the challenging candidates. These board members have gone as far as to associate us with criminal acts and wanting to defraud the neighborhood. This is outrageous, completely fabricated, and categorically 100% false. Sandy, Tiffany, Jeremiah, and I have run on a platform of “No New Assessments and No Increased Dues” from the very beginning of our candidacy.
Our goal is to get the neighborhood past the controversy and bitterness of the last 10 years. We cannot do that if we are still talking about purchasing property after all this time. Two of the four new candidates did not live in the neighborhood at the time of the purchase vote or when the alleged “embezzlement” by an outside management company occurred. Nor did nearly 400 other property owners in Glenmary according to the PVA. The only individuals who have ever purchased property (leading to special assessments) are the current sitting board members.
This type of unethical behavior will not be tolerated. Once elected I will place my real estate license in escrow and be calling for a full and complete audit of our HOA finances. I will be scrutinizing and reviewing every agreement with outside contractors. I plan to introduce a code of ethics for board members preventing future boards from using HOA funds and resources to spread false and damaging information against those who want to serve on a volunteer board. I will also start a campaign requesting state lawmakers to adopt legislative reform to protect residents from similar abuse and mismanagement from their Homeowners Associations. - Daniel English
